November 2010 - Canada Releases Updated Risk Management Strategy for Acrylonitrile Which Concludes No Need For Additional Controls
In November 2010, Environment Canada (EC) released an updated risk management strategy for acrylonitrile. Environment Canada released this updated risk management strategy in order to account for a new facility (source) that began operating after the original pollution prevention (P2) plan was introduced in 2002. The new facility was identified as a significant source of AN air emissions by the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI), and after coordination with authorities from Quebec, a pollution prevention plan was put into place to control emissions. NPRI air emissions for this facility have dropped considerably in the last few years. Based on this, EC determined no additional controls were needed under the EC AN P2 plan.
